Sony’s latest touch-sensitive ebook reader (or the Sony ereader as many people call it) is quite rightly the most popular ebook reader around today.
Its 6 inch eink screen is second to none in readability, the touch function lets you turn a page with a flick of your finger, just like with a real book, and yet it takes up less space than a very thin paperback book and can fit in your pocket. And of course the Sony PRS600 can hold literally hundreds of books - extend that to thousands when you plug in the optional SD card. That’s the same SD card you use in your digital camera, costing only a few pounds for 4 Gigabytes of storage. And since a single ebook takes up on average 300 Megabytes, then you’re talking about carrying around with you over 13,000 ebooks. Yes, 13,000 ebooks on a single SD card. Yours, to take with you and read absolutely anywhere.
The touch sensitive function means that this Sony ereader isn’t covered with unsightly buttons and switches - you do it all by touching the screen, and it’s generally agreed that the PRS600 is Sony’s best to date.
It’s available in Black and Silver, of course, but now you can get an exclusive RED model which really shows off the style. Not many people will even know about the red ebook reader, let alone own one, so now’s your chance to be stylish and to be different.
Compare the black ereader, the silver ereader and the red ereader, then buy the red one. We did.

Sony has discontinued its famous PRS505 ebook reader but it’s replacements are little crackers!
Sony has issued two new models of ereader - the PRS600 which is a direct replacement for the 505, and the PRS300 which is a more compact pocket version ebook reader.
You can buy the PRS 600 ebook reader in silver, a stunning red or a discreet black, and the PRS300 ebook reader in silver or a nice shade of pink.
PRS600 uses the same great eink display as the old PRS505, but with the benefit of a touch-sensitive layer so you can take notes or turn the page with a flick of the finger.

The nice thing about a book is that you can pop it on a stand at just the right angle for your own reading pleasure and read away to your heart’s content without having to hold it. Well if you’re addicted to your ebook reader (and who isn’t??) and want to make long reading sessions that bit less tiring on the hands and arms, then this great cheap ebook reader stand might be just the job.
This little ebook reader stand is actually sold as a stand for notebook computers, but it’s none the worse for that. You can actually use it to help prevent injury to your wrists when doing a lot of typing on your netbook or notebook by angling the keyboard to make it more comfortable. But it’s as an ebook reader stand that it comes into its own for me.
Ideal for older people who don’t have the wrist and hand strength they once had, this ebook reader stand is also great for youngies like myself who like to read for hours on end on a comfortable recliner with my ebook reader on the little table next to me. Believe me, you won’t know the comfort till you’ve tried it.
For around a tenner - and that includes postage - you can’t go wrong with this brilliant little ebook reader stand.
Sony PRS505 ebook reader - silver
Students and leisure readers alike will love this stylish ebook reader with its great 6 inch e-ink screen and front-mounted controls.
You’ll love reading novels, textbooks or essays on your Sony pRS505 ebook reader and be able to carry about the whole term’s books in your pocket. Battery life is about 7,000 page turns, which means you’ll need to charge it every week or two. This is because the e-ink display doesn’t use any power to display your books, and the ebook reader only needs to call on the battery for page-turns and other physical operations.
Charging is by the supplied USB lead, which you can connect to your PC, laptop or netbook or plug into a separate mains/USB charger which you can buy for a few pounds. Ebooks are loaded from the internet to your computer, and from there to the Sony ebook reader via USB, or by means of an optional SD which plugs into the edge of the reader.
Contemporary books can be purchased and downloaded online, and there is also a vast range of free classic books whose copyright has expired. The Sony PRS 505 comes complete with a number of free books already installed, so you can hit the ground running.
It’s great for novels, fiction and general books in text format, but the Sony has a PDF reflow feature which means that it makes a great reader for PDF books where pictures and graphics play a large part.
You can even set your own text size to suit yourself, so if your eyesight isn’t what it used to be, then the Sony could be the reader for you.
No wonder the Sony PRS 505 is the biggest selling ebook reader in the UK.
